Well if you’re sitting in your office at work with a million things going through
your mind and can’t remember the last time you did something you really enjoy, then
it’s time to get a kayak, some fishing gear and get onto the water. Fishing from
your kayak is not only productive, but it’s physically and mentally good for you
as well. As soon as I get onto my kayak, I forget about all the worries in life
and just enjoy being on the water. Some of the things I’ve encountered on my fishing
adventures, I’ll never forget til the day I die. I’ve been lucky enough to have encounters
with Humpback Whales checking me out, been pulled around by Marlin, sharks and other
large fish for a couple of hours before I release them.
For me, I love the challenge,
the serenity as well as the physical exercise. You don’t have to spend heaps of
money and you don’t have to go 15km’s out like I do. You can just buy a cheap kayak
and start in the river’s or bays with a simple fishing rod, or no rod at all. It’s
something the whole family can enjoy. Here’s a few photo’s of what kayaking is all
about for me.

Here’s a cool shot of a Black Tip Whaler Shark, estimated at between 80 and 100kg hooked off Kiama. The sharks have continued to interfere with my mission to catch a Marlin by taking all my good baits. Luckily, my mate Pete was with me on this occasion to capture some cool shots from the Torque Kayak. After a few more quick runs I cut this fellow off to fight another day.
